At Thomson Cabinets, we strive to give you a custom product that meets and exceeds the minimum standards of construction. Our skilled craftsmen use high quality materials to produce premium, ergonomically correct, aesthetically pleasing products to your specifications.
COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION
We specialize in commercial construction and our journeymen cabinetmakers are skilled in all types of finishing applications for reception counters, desks, workstations, boardroom tables, walls mouldings, and casings, in offices, schools, restaurants, cafeterias, food courts, retail outlets, colleges, hospitals, and most other commercial venues. We work with all types of materials and have available to us wide range of Plastic Laminate, Metal Laminate and Solid Surfacing products, styles and finishes.
Furniture, Fixtures and all Millwork is available in a variety of hard woods and styles. We build to suit your needs!
BASIC CONSTRUCTION
Thomson's standard cabinets are European-style construction in all 3/4" material.
Cabinet box sides, rails and floors are glued, doweled and pressure assembled for strength and durability.
Gables are precision drilled with 5mm holes for adjustable full depth shelving, or pilasters are recessed into them.
We use locking shelf clips to anchor shelves inside the cabinets for heavy duty load bearing capacity.
Typically our standard boxes are made in three ranges of finish materials, all of which can be made on a range of core materials including particle board, mdf, or plywood.
Our standard drawer boxes are made of 1/2" White Melamine with either rabbit or dado joints to suit slide application.
Standard drawer slides are bottom mount for light duty application and full extension for medium to heavy-duty usage.
Drawer faces are securely attached through the 3/4" drawer subfront to the drawer front for added stability.
DOORS & DRAWER FRONTS
Our standard cabinet doors and drawer fronts are 3/4" slab construction, in any of our standard materials, but a wide variety of other door types are available including simulated and true raised panel, frame and panel, arched frame and panel, mitered panel, cope and stick, glass, and tambour.
HINGING
We normally use heavy duty, European style, all metal, concealed, full overlay hinges that are fully adjustable, self-closing, and clip mounted for easy removal. Standard cabinets are equipped with 120 degree opening hinges, with the exception of corner units that have 170 degree openings. Alternative hinging is available on request.
FINISHING
We can offer an endless variety of stains and finishing styles. Our experienced staff is able and willing to help you choose the stain and finish that is right for your requirements and taste.
COUNTERTOPS
Countertops are available in a wide variety of materials, styles, & edges.
Our standard counters are made from Plastic Laminate on either particle board, mdf, or plywood core material.
Many other materials are available including Corian & WilsonArt Solid Surface, Synthetic Stone, Granite, Marble, Slate, Concrete, Stainless Steel, and Tile.
Plastic Laminate is available in a wide range of styles and colours, is extremely durable, and inexpensive compared to other durable materials. Our standard range of plastic laminate includes all the manufacturer's below, colour samples are available on their websites.

- Maple, Cherry, Oak, Birch, Walnut, Ash, Teak, Hickory, and Mahogany veneer, all of which can be finished in whatever colour needed.
